Q: What traits should I look for when hiring a paint contractor?
A: There are several key factors to consider when looking for a paint contractor for your next residential paint project.
Check to see if the contractor is licensed, bonded, and insured. Also, look for a contractor with general liability and worker’s compensation insurance. Of course, you will also want an experienced contractor capable of completing work within the allotted time frame and budget. Contractors who will provide you with a free estimate and local references are considered reputable and trustworthy.
Q: Can I leave my home while your paint crew is working?
A: Absolutely. Most customers we work for are away while our crew is painting. We aim to hire only experienced, skilled, and trustworthy paint professionals for our company. The only way to make sure that we employ reliable painters is by doing background checks on them. So, you can rest easy knowing that your home is in good hands when you hire us. Even while you are away at work, running errands, or taking a day off, our paint crew will focus on their work and nothing else.
Q: How long will my job take?
A: There are no clear-cut answers to this question, as a residential paint job’s timeline varies from one home to another.
Most residential paint projects are completed within a week. However, there could be factors that may affect how long it takes to paint a home, including:
- The size of the home
- Textured surfaces, which require more time to paint than flat and smooth surfaces
- The number of walls to be painted
- The condition of the surface
- The weather (especially in exterior painting)
- The skill and experience of the painters working on your home
Q: Do you use latex or oil-based paint?
A: We primarily use latex (water-based) paints for interior and exterior paint jobs. Modern latex paints are the best choice for typical home painting applications.
Latex paints are typically easier to apply and dry much quicker than oil-based paints. Many latex paints contain unique formulations that resist fading, mold, and mildew. Some latex paints are more environmentally friendly than oil-based paints.
Oil-based paints are more durable and stain-resistant than latex paints. However, the major drawback of oil-based paints is pollution since they contain solvents. These solvents evaporate into the air as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as the paint dries – and these fumes are pretty toxic. Oil-based paints pose a health and environmental hazard. This is why oil-based paints are falling out of favor, and some states have banned them. So, you’ll eventually use only latex paints for most residential paint jobs.
Q: How will my personal property be protected from paint?
A: In interior painting, we advise you to remove all the delicate and breakable items first, and then we will protect the remaining items by covering them with clean drop cloths or plastic sheeting. We will also tape areas that are not to be painted.
In exterior painting, we cover shrubs, flower beds, and surrounding areas to protect them from paint.
Q: Do you offer a warranty?
A: All of our work comes with a five-year warranty on structural buildings. Extended warranties are also available. In addition, we offer a one-year warranty on floor surfaces.
Q: Do you charge for an estimate
A: We do not charge a fee to provide an estimate for your painting project. Call us at 925-294-8062 or fill out our online form to schedule an appointment with our estimator and receive a free estimate.
